The Gold Disaster Recovery Package contains all the advanced elements required to address the data security section of your disaster recovery plan. The plan provides 150Gb of secure online backup, Backup Email relay server with designated web access and active imaged servers, stored in our secure facility. These elements are discussed in detail below.
Disaster recovery and remote office replication are top-of-mind issues for IT professionals, with recent disasters such as fire and flood underscoring the fallibility of tape-based backup strategies commonly used by all but the largest enterprises. Tape-based backup is woefully inadequate for disaster recovery situations since it involves too much human intervention, and the management of too much data. Conditions that almost inevitably lead to error and delay.
By replacing tape-based backup systems, DVS Online Backup dramatically improves the speed and efficiency of disaster recovery.
DVS Backup provides a fully automated, encrypted and highly secure Online Backup solution for electronic data. A DVS engineer will visit your site to set up your online backup and load your data onto an encrypted hard drive which is then loaded onto our secure servers. Then incremental changes to your data may be uploaded to our servers each night. Your data is encrypted before being transmitted offsite to our secure servers in our backup data centre, and is available 24/7 to restore.
Our secure backup service also allows you a high degree of flexibility, quickly and easily allowing you to retrieve an accidentally deleted file or even view and restore a previous saved version of it. DVS Backup stores 30, 60 or 90 versions of your data.
Primarily the online backup system allows straightforward and quick recovery of your entire system, should it become necessary.
Your email will be configured so that, in the event your email server being down, your email will be stored on our secure Email relay server with Web Mail access for your users, so that all email can be handled immediately. When your email server is restored all of the stored email will be downloaded to it.
Our engineer will take an image of all your servers which will be installed on your dedicated disaster recovery servers. An image is an exact copy of your server hard drives, including Operating System, software packages and all settings. If you have a major change such as a new software package the server must be re-imaged for disaster recovery purposes.
If you have a catastrophic IT failure, or a natural disaster, all of your email will be routed to our Backup Email Relay server for storage, and Web Mail access will be available for up to 10 designated accounts, to provide immediate email access. Depending on the type and severity of the disaster you have a few options with regard to your data.
- If you have lost all of the data on a server our engineer will be on site with your server images and data within 24 hours to ensure the images and data are loaded.
- If you have lost your server or servers your dedicated disaster recovery servers will be loaded with your up-to-date data and delivered to your site fully loaded within 24 hours of notification. Our engineer will stay on site until all the servers are installed and running. The servers are available to you for 6 weeks and can either be rented or purchased at that time.
- If you have lost your office then you will have the option to relocate 20 of your key personnel to the DVS IT Business Continuity Suite located in Cardiff, where you will be provided with access to your dedicated disaster recovery servers and Voice over IP telephony system.
